This house was first built four hundred years ago on the Indonesian island of Java. Now, thanks to the family’s deep connection to Indonesia, this beautiful ancient teak house stands on Santa Teresa’s charming, endless white sand, most exclusive northern beach. Casa J is situated on the northern most exclusive part of Santa Teresa beach where the Surf is fantastic. The beach in front of the house is absolutely beautiful, pristine white sand that goes on forever, leaning trees – therefore lots of shaded areas and wildlife. There are quad tours, canopy and zip line tours, waterfall walks, butterfly farms. The house has three bedrooms, to masters with en suite bathrooms and one double which can have a queen size bed or twin beds. There are three bathrooms in all. There are two more houses very nearby, one with six bedrooms and another with eight bedrooms which can be rented all together.
Casa J comes with two maids who make your beds, change your linen and towels, wash your clothes and turn down your beds at night lighting candles and decorating with flowers. There are caretakers and helpers living on the land who sweep the path to the beach and around the pool every day and make sure guests have fresh coconut water and mangoes when in season. They also look after the horses and there is a concierge service and an administrator who comes daily. At night, there is a security guard who patrols the land with guard dogs. The beds have high quality pillows and mattresses and sheets are Egyptian cotton of a high thread count. Continental breakfast is served every day which is a tropical fruit platter, toast, tea and/or coffee. The pool and house are surrounded by almond trees, surrounded by several families of monkeys in the tree tops above you. They always stay in the treetops; there are iguanas that sometimes come up to the water’s edge of the pool, and two herons, anteaters and sloths living on the land.
Yoga instruction can be arranged in the beach Rancho as well as massage – relaxing or deep tissue – and various beauty treatments. There are excellent local surf instructors. There is a super market across the road a short walk to the right, for groceries and snacks. Alternatively, the staff offer the service of shopping. The house is about ten minutes walk to the centre of town, Santa Teresa.
Tambor airstrip is forty minutes by car/taxi from the house. San Jose is twenty five minutes by plane or three hours by car including a beautiful ferry-ride where you see all the islands and hills of Tambor. Chartering your own plane is recommended, it is inexpensive and you land on Tambor Airstrip in comfort, at your own leisure, without delays, alternatively there are three commercial flights per day.
