The Lodge is steeped in history and style. Located at the heart of Borana Conservancy, Kenya’s newest and most successful rhino sanctuary, The Lodge is set against a beautiful hillside with an organic design and panoramic views throughout. The Lodge has eight guest rooms, consisting of four unique cottages and two family cottages all decorated in unaffected but comfortable up-country style. The lodge was built entirely from local materials by the family and craftsmen from the local community. Family-friendly yet also a romantic setting for honeymooners. A wide range of activities for traditional safari goers as well as intrepid travelers. Small and exclusive you are encouraged to treat The Lodge as your home.
Food is where possible locally sourced, organically grown from their own farms and those of their neighbours. The chefs have great fun preparing delicious and healthy cuisine to suit any palette and for all dietary requirements and ages. The meals are served in the lodge, in the bush, or in a tree house.
The Lodge was established in 1993 as one of the original small eco lodges in East Africa and has since been the prime economic driver that has enabled us to secure important habitat for endangered species.
In 2007 the Dyer family made a conscious and important decision to commit all retained earnings from our commercial activities on the estate to supporting the increased costs of conservation.
At a time in our history when Rhino poaching was at its worst and sanctuaries were closing we committed additional secure habitat for Rhino and to underwrite core conservation costs long into the future.
By staying at The Lodge as a guest you are making a direct contribution that will allow us to continue on a truly sustainable journey, committing profits to securing conservation integrity for future generations.
