Experience the luxury of life at its finest in this glorious chateau, that has been described by France’s Architect of Historical Monuments, as one of France’s “most precious elements of architecture of the French Enlightenment.”
The total experience of the Chateau becomes even more rich as one enters the doors of the chateau itself. Filled with museum-quality art and antiques, the interiors of the chateau are at once grand and cozy. Restored by a world-renowned designer, who has designed the homes of European and Middle Eastern royalty, as well as some of today’s biggest celebrities, has painstakingly designed the interiors of the chateau. Featured in Architectural Digest magazine, guests experience a world of comfortable elegance in the 14 luxuriously furnished bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms. The entire chateau has wireless internet and there is satellite television carrying channels from around the world.
The geometrical, well-groomed formal gardens at the foot of the chateau are a direct reference to the gardens of Le Notre at Versailles. Parterre designs drawn in boxwood suggest the Turkish carpets that decorated the chateau’s interior floors.
Today, the garden holds numerous herbaceous flowering plants that bloom throughout much of the year. A circular reflecting pool, placed at the center of the Exotic Garden, reflects the two large, fully restored greenhouses at the rear of the garden. You will also find the beautiful stone-vaulted Orangery; this building with its double story south-facing windows, is used in the winter time to store the chateau’s citrus and palm trees in Versailles boxes. In the summer, the Orangery is used for delightful dinners served al fresco.
Originally used for hunting and as a source of timber, the 42 acres of forest at the Chateau are divided into separate areas by paths for horseback riding and walking. Like the formal French gardens, the forest is designed around several lines of perspective. Some of the statues that Louis XV gave to the chateau are placed at the intersections of these forested alleys; the statues, depict mythological gods, goddesses and events.
The chateau is available by the week for select groups who choose to experience this enchanted world of comfortable elegance. We are happy to make arrangements for activities and excursions during your stay at the château. It is also the perfect setting for a fairy-tale wedding!
