Bequia is a small island belonging to the Grenadine chain of islands which lie west of Barbados. It is a particularly charming island, remaining unspoiled as until recently it had no airstrip and one was obliged to arrive by boat. Even with the daily flights from Barbados and St Vincent things have stayed sleepy here. Bequia has many magical beaches, great sailing and fishing and there are a number of interesting dive sites to be explored. This tropical island has a charm of its own and is well worth a visit. There is an exciting music festival The Mount Gay Festival this takes place in late January each year in conjunction with the Mustique Blues Festival and the one week island regatta which is held during the Easter week is also extremely festive.
